Two questions:
(1) Why is the retainer nut on the front of the steering housing made as it is?
It's a six-point nut of 3/4" size but the socket won't go down the full depth. This had to have been intentionally made in this manner, but why? Was IH thinking ahead and didn't want farmers messing with this nut?
(2) How does one get this dern nut removed? Hopefully you give me a better method that a sledgehammer to drive on the socket after heating for an hour with a torch. !!
