I believe the priority valve in our steering circuit, will deliver all flow to the steering cylinders when turned to the stop, and when the steering is not being used, all the fluid goes to the lift and tilt valve. You can do both at reduced operation.

It could be called Power Beyond.

I fully understand what you are saying.
and it makes sense as you describe the operation of the machine.
I would like to see that priority valve schematic as I would like to know how they achieve it.
I sometimes I wish I enjoyed a simple pass time, like fishing or Golf
then again I would try to figger out why the fish didn't like my hook:mad:

yep,
I just was in one of them 3 weeks ago,
trying to figger out if I can get it to have less operator effort.
I snagged it from a 30 yr old J.D. lawn tractor, and put it on an old cub cadet.
But that isn't a priority valve, just a Ross steering control/pump.
I was looking to use lighter springs on the valve plates. But was hoping someone else already did the R&D on that, no sense reinventing the wheel.
It is powered by the charge pump from the Sundstrand hydrostat. just like J.D and everybody else does.
It works well, I just wanted to dial it in a little "sweeter" as I'm kind of picky @ times

Well thanks, I am a plannin' to,
but I sure stumbled on my first post!!:confused: Ha,LOL
I don't know what I did, but I was replying to
some fellers putting in fence posts and my reply got posted in the middle of a hyd discussion. so I just tryed to blend in hoping nobody noticed.

Hey JJ,
As this thread was mostly back in '05, did you ever try anything with the steering or just get used to it?

Also, what would happen if you used 2 PRVs - one before the pump (set to a lower pressure) which simply bypassed the steering back into the line after the steering and on to the lift/tilt for when the wheel was maxed out and the second after the steering to provide overpressure safety back to the tank? Wouldn't the first PRV act kinda like the priority valve in a CC system?

I think what we figured out, was that at a little steering angle, you still had some fluid flow that was not being used for steering, and the excess was available. At max steering angle, the steering took over all the fluid and the lift stopped.
