I have a 1980 Case 580B shuttle backhoe and the steering quit working. I added oil and I can spin the steering wheel endlessly and wheels dont turn. I lifted the front wheels off the ground and can get it to turn right and left with no load, but I have to spin the steering wheel way too many times to get it do it. Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting would be appreciated. I have a manual of how the steering system is put together. Should I get a pressure gauge to test pressure from the pump, or is there some other way to see if its maybe the front cylinders. Should they turn when the engine is off? I've attached a picture of the steering steering overview.
