Steiner S-20 / 420 starter - P220 Onan

The starter on my S-20 sounds like it's almost dead, and the ring gear is pretty bad too. I would like to swap both.

There appear to be a few types of Onan starters, I have an inline style with external solenoid, and some have integrated solenoid.

I have seen a few 420s with the integrated style. It looks like they require a starter with the solenoid sticking out the side, and not facing down (90 degrees instead of 180).

I would like to switch to the integrated style if I can, they seem to last longer and crank faster. Do they interchange? Do they fit on an S-20? The PTO control rod seems awful close.

SO I got my answer, the Mitsubishi style starter doesn't fit on an S20 with an inline style starter without modifying the PTO control rod, I think I will have to remake one that snakes around the starter...

The Mitsu starter is a lot stronger though and probably a worthwhile upgrade...
