Yesterday on the porch, while drawing a bead on that pesky red squirrel that had bothered Tetley so much -- and which I swore to him I'd get in his name -- I stepped on a bee and was stung on the bottom of my foot. Jeez, that hurt! (Got the squirrel, though)

This morning my foot and ankle is all swollen up and it feels like I'm walking on a pot roast!

Sounds like you ended up better off than the bee. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pete,
I have heard you comment that to Vermonters you ar from "away" ie not a native.

But I think that hunting squirrel from your porch while barefoot surely must qualify you for honorary status /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hope you are on the mend soon.

Phil

I thought that Vermonters wore shoes and the people from Tennessee went barefoot. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Pete, you could possibly be having the worst year of anyone I've known.

You might want to lock yourself in the bedroom until Jan 1st.

Funny thing about Vermonters is they really seem to respect my marksmanship. That squirrel was a head shot from 75 yards, running. And the last coyote, also a head shot at 450 yards. The locals take notice of things like that. None of them have referred to me as a Vermonter yet, but they invite me to their hunting camps which is an honor of sorts.

You might be allergic. You can go for years & never have a reaction, then when you do, each succeeding one is worse. Be real careful next time you get stung & if you start to have breathing problems, call 911.

Next time, shoot the bee on the wing before she gets you! Sounds like you could do it.

Several decades back a friend & I were hunting rabbits. He was using a Colt Buntline .22 & getting head shots on the run. More than once--it wasn't just luck.

Allie doesn't fair too well with bee stings... she swells right up!
Of course that doesn't stop her curiousity when she finds some bees! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

We were recently told that cider vinegar takes the sting out. We had the chance to try it a few days later when my son got stung. Put it on a paper towel, then held it on the spot. It did wonders.

I have the same problem, as a kid I use to catch bees all the time got stung lots too but never had a reaction, 3 years ago a hornet got me on my hand it swelled up like a baseball mit, last year I upset a wasp nest and took two stings on the knee area again another bad reaction, lastly this year I hit a bumble bee nest and got stung on the ankle, this was the worst yet the ankle and foot swelled up so much I could not get a shoe on for a week. A neighbor of my mothers who is a nurse said it sounds as though I have stored toxins in my body and with each sting the reaction gets worse, she suggested and epie pin, this is suppose to help, and she warned that it would be very important if I were to get stung say around the neck area as the swelling would cause breathing difficulties.
