I just purchased a cabin with 6 acres. 3 of them are clear of trees and the rest is tree with a few paths. 2 acres is nice grass, 1 acre is almost like a pasture. all of it gets soggy with alot of rain.

the road is gravel that slopes up and a slight angle, and gets lots of snow per year.

I was figuring my needs would be a mower, tiller for garden, and snow removal, at a minimum. However i am getting completely overwhelmed by all the information out there and the high cost of all the tractors. 20k is out of my price range at the moment. Now im not even sure if i need to remove snow lol.

So far i have looked at Steiner and the Ventrac 3000 and 4000 series along with everything from the outlet stores.

if anyone has any advise on how to approach this i would appreciate it. I have owned a riding lawnmower in the past but thats my overall experience when it comes to this.

Thank you

Maybe your answer would be a light weight mower (because of the water and mud) with after market snow studs to get your mowing done and get your through the water. Then a separate machine for snow and another separate for garden tiller, or combine the tiller and snow into one machine like DR offers. I have several DR products and they are stout. Besides that, DR lets you try the product and if you don't like it you can return it. Have a look at the Husqvarna 46 V twin...Lowes sells them for about $2k. Great mower I have one and put my neighbor to buying one and we are both happy. Put some snow stud tires on it of the same size as on it. ebay sells lots of them at great prices. Other nice thing about those tires is that they ride soft with around 8 psig of air pressure.

I see you coming out around 4k for all that. If you have to have a tractor for the sake of having one, give yourself to get your new guy accumulation requirements met and then when the money flow slows down, then think about a tractor. Will give you time to better understand what you will want when you go shopping.

There are a lot of older nice 20 to 25 HP tractors out there with loaders and MMM for around 9k to 10k. That might be something for you to consider. They are easy to operate and have enough power to till a little garden and push a little snow.
