Anyone know any tricks for keeping grass from sticking on the underside of the deck? I heard once that a kitchen product like PAM would prevent the problem. Anyone tried that?
I used to blame my sticky grass problems on my old JD 112 rusty bottom mower deck...but this past weekend I mowed with my wifes new CC3100 and that did the same thing. Plugged it up almost solid under there.
Maybe I just need new grass??! Too many weeds in there...or whatever. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I really don't think anything works (like spray-on) when the grass is wet and succulent with a lot of 'juice', it will stick. Especially bad in the spring when the grass is 'new'.
But mowing when dry is the best cure, and cleaning off the deck after using, so the old dead dry chunks that hang there don't impede good flow the next mowing. Cleaning regularly isn't any more work than sprayin PAM on regularly (after cleaning). But if you find it works, be sure to let us know. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I polish mine up real well in the fall when picking up leaves, nut shells, and sticks.

I was afraid that was going to be the case. I always wait for the grass to dry out, unless I am using our brush cutter...that cuts equally well wet or dry.
Fortunately, it is quite easy to get the deck off the 3100...just disconnect the pto shaft, pull a lever in the front and two on the back and it slides out. Well...almost. It is necessary to lift the front end slightly because the gearbox for the mower won't clear the rear lift arms which are hanging under the tractor. The deck (54 inch) is a heavy one however, and is a handful to pull by hand any distance.
Thanks for the input....

I have in the past used slip plste a graphite type paint lubricant with some luck. You have to get the deck good and clean I would recommend scraping all the old grass off and then washing it real good and then put a coat or two of the graphite lubricant on there. It really seems to help but it won't cure it for good.

Thanks for the replies on this subject. I am really hoping that the deck wash system on this Cub will work as well as I thought it might when I first saw it. There was no way it was going to clean off this first cutting grass. Even 2000 psi had problems taking it off.

Be sure to wait till the bearings cool off before washing deck, hot bearings will soak up water and cause premature failure.
