Stihl Special Harvester

Today, at my Stihl/Toro dealer, I saw a Stihl machine I'd never seen or heard of before. And after standing there for some time trying to figure out what that thing was, I finally gave up and asked the salesman.:laughing: He called it an "Olive Harvester" but said they figured people in this area might use it as a pecan harvester. I don't know if there's more than one model, but the Stihl SP200 looks like what I saw and had never heard of. The salesman did say something about a $1,300.00 price.:shocked: Any of you ever use one? I wonder if it wouldn't shake your teeth out.:laughing:

Bird, I'm a Stihl dealer and I've never seen one before! Went to the catalog and I still came up without anything! I know we don't have Olives growing here, and I know we don't have Pecans here but that leaves us without the ability to use our imagination to find a use for it!

Thats why it's good to get out of your back yard and look around at the world!

Art, you can google "Stihl Special Harvester" and get several interesting hits, many in other countries, although I see the link I posted is from a dealer in Florida. I'm not sure how long that thing is, but it's probably twice as long as most string trimmers, the engine appears considerably bigger, and I see it weighs 23 pounds.

Now it's only going to fit onto a limb up to 1.25" diameter so I wouldn't thing it would help a lot with pecan trees, although the salesman said when it shakes that little limb, it'll actually just about shake the whole tree.:laughing:

The pecan tree shakers I've seen were big machines for tractors, or one guy with thousands of trees in the area I lived in made his own shaker based on an old International pickup engine and frame.
