still working on the MF 165

HELLO TO ALL,
we are still working on my friends MF165. we installed
a new power steering pump, but it did not improve the
steering. i looked in the pump res. and the fluid had air
in it. does this mean we did not bleed it properly? does
anybody have a suggestion for bleeding this system?
any comments, help or suggestion appreciated.

Here is what Big Dean has to say about bleeding the pump.
"[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,adobe-helvetica,Arial Narrow]First we will start with bleeding the air out of the power steering system. You always fill the [/FONT][FONT=Arial,Helvetica,adobe-helvetica,Arial Narrow]reservoir with the engine running. After you have it full, turn the wheels from stop to stop several times to [/FONT][FONT=Arial,Helvetica,adobe-helvetica,Arial Narrow]disperse the air from the system. You may have to fill the reservoir a couple of times if there is a lot of air [/FONT][FONT=Arial,Helvetica,adobe-helvetica,Arial Narrow]in the system.This is done with the plug out"[/FONT]

What was the steering doing wrong BEFORE you replaced the pump? What OIL (type/weight?) are you using in the steering?

HELLO TO ALL,
the power steering was not working. my friend just
bought this tractor from another party, and they said
it was not working. we did a pressure check, and there
was no pressure on the gauge. installed the new pump,
and this pump has no test port. would have checked the
pressure if possible, because i would like to know what it
was producing. my friend has bought the CD from big dean,
and has been in touch with him by e-mail. we will be bringing
the tractor to my place, (shop) because we will have more
tools, and comfort here, and the MF dealer is a short distance.
