Stock Trailer Advice

In the market for a newer cattle trailer. Have narrowed it down to a W-W or CM brand trailer. What advice can you give, pro or con, on either a W-W or CM brand 16' stock trailer?

I've got a small WW trailer that we really like, they have been making stock trailers since 1968 or so. There standard trailer comes with more features that were options on other trailers. CM is a Big Tex brand I beleive, never owned one, but I'm sure there good also. Previous expirence made me go with WW. We looked at several manufactures trailers, delta was one. There really isn't much difference in any of them that we looked at. I wanted brakes on both axles of mine, most we looked at were option, but not on thee WW. I like there latch systems on the back door, and the center cut gate. Also the escape door, which something every stock trailer should have. It tows really well. Think I'm fixn to go all aluminum though, looking at a wide 24' featherlight, or Wilson for hauling the cows, gonna use the WW for the pigs. LUTT

I have a WW covered stock trailer with the horse tack/hay loft front end with double access doors. It's a tandem 16-18' with the wide body so animals have an easier turning around, side door up front on passenger side and mid section gate. Rear gate/door has a sliding panel and my 2000+# bull made his way through the slider. It's about 20 years old and several years ago I put new running gear on it and this year new tires....bought it used 10 or years ago.

On buying any trailer my main concern is floor protection and if it's not treated wood and even if it is, a good dose of Boiled Linseed oil/turpentine (50-50) on the floor B4 using it and every so often can save your animals and your having to replace it.

Welcome to TBN. You don't state if You want aluminum or steel ? Don't know your exact needs but if it were me I'd go with 24'. CM builds a good trailer IMO ,don't know much about W-W ? As you know stock trailers seem to be regional as far as popularity.
Have You considered an EBY or Kiefer stock trailer those two manufactorers would be among my first choises.
Just my :2cents::2cents:

That's three brands of trailer made in Madill, Oklahoma. WW, Wilson, and CM. I just associated CM with big Tex cause that's where I see them for sale. As for the hinges, my WW has zeros on it also, that's not a deal breaker for me, rust is probly gonna consume a steel trailer before the doors fall off. To the op, if I was buying one trailer to use all around, I would get aluminum, there resale holds near what you give for them when new and a good one will outlast any steel trailer and be worth 2 to 3 times as much. No Zerks on my WW but so far, a little oil every time I use it keeps the doors and rollers (rear sliding section) functioning. Course I only use it once a year or so.

Not picking one over the other. Just commenting on what I found used and bought.
