With all this snow this winter, I did alot of pushing snow off thr driveway and onto the grass. Now all the hills of snow have melted and has left me with piles on stone all over the grass. What are some of the ways you guys remove the stones other then raking? I just got a new shop vac with a 2" hose, thought that would save my back from raking. :D

I had that problem the first year. After raking all the stones out of the lawn, I was extremely careful this past winter when plowing. No stones in the lawn this spring.

I use a broom on the front of my X485. Sweep them off.

There are some mechanical powered hand-held "brooms" that is a drum with paddles. Works pretty well to sweep them back.

Years ago, I just let the grass grow up in the stones.

A garden hoe works fairly well but rather tedious. For stones near lane just scrape back onto lane. For stones father out, scrape into piles then use shovel to throw stones back onto lane. This technique works best if done before grass starts growing.

I just started my spring ritual today. Put a steel pipe on my plow blade after the first couple of storms, so that saved me some, but those first plowings left a bunch of stone. I just rake it in piles and pick it with shovel, put in loader bucket and respread.

Vacuum would not work for me

I've always just raked them. This year, I backdragged the snow piles on the lawn back on the drive (which was all cleared and melted) to melt.
The majority of the gravel is back on the drive. I'll still have to rake, but it'll be less of a task this year.

When I lived in Edmonton I had that problem, I bought a Kirby vacuum at an auction for $10.00 it sat in the shop for a long time when the lawn got dry I started raking that got stale real quick, went into the shop to get a different rake to try it when I saw the vacuum. It did a fantastic job, Sold it to the neighbor for $20.00 years later when I left the area, cost me a plastic fan blade for 10 years use.
