Does anyone have any other ways of mounting a tool box? I have seen an example here ,but there seems to be quite of bit of smaller space between the fel arm and the hood on my tractor. The best spot I could come up with so far is weld a bar between the ROPS and mount it there, with a secondary idea of building a frame for a box over the hood(unlikely), for me function is more important than form , and I dont much care about how noisey it will be. I just dont want to be heading back to the shop every 2 seconds for a diff tool. I cant stop thinking about how many uses there are for this tractor/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif. I want to turn this thing into a massive hulking do everything machine! when people are in trouble I could move mountains, pull the empire state building ,leap tall buildings, and mow their lawns to boot! wwweeeeee!

putty340,
There was a gentleman who share photo here on TBN..I believe L.H.Smith or Larry, and he install his tool box between the FEL arm and the tractor..did a super job.
Check out attachment or photo thread.

Thomas, I couldn't swear to it, but believe that was LarryT who did such a pretty job on that. Now I need to find some ammo boxes.

That was the post I was refering to. their seems to be a lot less room between the FEL arm and the hood on my tractor. I think the ROPS is the best (only) place.

I just made a ROPS rack for my 4100 similar to Harv's design. Attached it to the ROPS with a U-bolt. Then I bolted the toolbox to the rack. Works great. It is best however to use a low, long box instead of a taller box. I started out with a taller box and had to return it to the store, because I couldn't see over it to watch an implement on the three point. What works well is one of those short metal handyman tool boxes with a lift out tool tray. Mine measures 20" wide, 9" tall and about 9" wide. It's enough to carry a 20' tow chain, assorted wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers and gloves.

Love to see a picture, Jim. I'm always looking for ways to improve what I have, or get ideas for the "next" project. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Harv, I just don't have that technology at home yet. What I did was basically the same thing you did. But instead of using angle iron on both side of the ROPS tube, I attached one angle iron on the outside by using a square U-bolt from the inside to go around the ROPS to the angle iron. The rest is basically your design, except I used angle iron instead of tubular steel.

Coincidentally, Jim, back at the beginning of November I re-vamped my own rack to use angle iron in place of the original square tube, as you can see in these picts.

Guess it took me two tries to get it right, where you did it the first time through. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

For those of you who weren't around at that time, you might be interested (or amused) at the fully magnetic rack I wound up with. Details and more picts were in this post.

Harv, you are a genius without a welder! Once again I am going to steal your idea,- hope you dont mind. I really like the removable part, where did you get the ammo boxes? I would like to get a scanner, but I am worried about the complications( I am NOT a computer wiz )is there an easy one to get, like a scanner for dummies or something ? thanks
