Give me some advice on something that doesn't make sense (to me). My read flasher on above tractor
will not work. The details: I have put in a new bulb, single contact, and have tested the circuit, and it
is getting the correct juice (power for city slickers). It will still not light up after another new bulb, taking
out and testing again.
Does the flasher take a double element bulb with single contact? Has me stumped.:confused2:

Could it possibly be a grounding problem? Are you testing with a test light? If so, I assume you are picking up power off the nub in the base of the light. But what do you have the ground end hooked to? Are you grounding out to the socket that holds the bulb? That's the circuit you need to complete.

If so, and the test light lights up, then possibly the spring under the disc that holds tension up against the bottom contact may be broken, or just collapsed, and just not making contact, with the contact point.

If this is the case, places like NAPA used to sell replacement contact bases, with contact, disc base, spring, and 3-4 inches of single strand wire.

Do you have the correct flasher for the bulb lumens(sp)(brightness)?

I appreciate all the responses. Very odd indeed. I'm going to solve the problem by installing an entire
flashing unit. Could not get to work. It test fine, just refuses to light up the bulb. The switch is fine,
and I''m sure a new unit will relieve the headache. Never saw one that tests OK, and when bulb is
placed in socket, it will not work. Has me scratching my head for sure.
DJ54, all the info you gave was right on. I checked the spring in the socket, and like I said, it was strange
indeed.
Thanks Barry

Following up on Tx, some flashers won't flash just one bulb, need more resistance. Check values.

It was working until two weeks ago. Thought it was the bulb, then strange things happened.:confused2:

On the Shibaura models the light assembly grounds through the fender, and the headlights need to be on for them to work.

thanks, gas. I have installed a complete flasher assembly, and all is well now.
