Stringing 1" Flex Fence

Has anyone put up 1" Flex Fence? I have also seen it called Pony fence. The question I have is how you attach the fence to the tensioner? We bought the fence from Ramm and they have been good about answering all other questions except this one. They use a ratcheting tensioner that has two holes. I am assuming I need to strip the ends of the fence to expose the two wires and stick those through the holes. The holes are slightly narrower than the fence but I don't see another way to attach the fence to the tensioner.

I have not worked with the one inch but I have the wider three wire style. On the wider, you can either use one of those "spool" type of tensioners or the regular single type made for tensile. With the spool style, you don't have to strip it back but obviously you do with the single type and it sounds like you are correct about your application.

Sounds like you do need to strip the vinyl back. First of all, the plastic roll fencing will be easier to work with when the outside temps are warmer, the warmer the better. Anyway, figure how far back to strip. Take a box knive or drywall knive whatever you want to call it and cut across the web between the wires Then cut the plastic in the center parallel to the wires back to that cut. Slip your knive blade into the cross cut and lightly work your way around the tensile wire as if you were stripping a piece of electrical wire. Try not to score the wire.

Then holding the wire with one hand, twist each piece of plastic off while pulling on it. If it is resistant due to cold temps, a little heat will help. A heat gun is best but a torch will do just watch because the torch will quickly make a mess of the plastic.

I put up some coated wire, and I think a very similiar tensioner was used. I stripped the end of the coated wire, and stuck the stripped end in the hole and tightened her up (figured out the stripped part when the coated wire would not fit.

So I would do just as you plan..strip out the 2 wires and stick them in the holes.
