I got me an ATV sprayer and sprayed about 3 acres with Roundup 2 weeks ago. Now it is striped green and red/yellow. Apparently I didn't have it mixed good. I ordered an agitator for $25 today. Don't know anything the agitators but I hope that does the trick.....

My sprayer just has a hand nozzle, and I'd like to rig up a couple of broadcast nozzles maybe strapped to a piece of one by two clamp to the back of the mule. Unfortunately, Northern Tool did not have the fittings you screw the nozzles into, nor did they sell the hoses for that. Anybody know a source for that? Northern tool does sell a "boom kit", but its $100 and has a metal boom I don't want and am not sure how I would mount to the Mule anyway.

Well.... it's colorful! That reminds me of a story about my boss. One day his staff car broke down and he took home a truck that the Parks department uses. It just so happened that the same day the guys who usually drive the truck had spilled a ton of Roundup in the bed. The truck has a plastic bedliner in it and it doens't drain. He took the truck home and parked it in his yard. That night we got about 1 inch of rain. The next morning, he left for work and all that Roundup and rain that mixed in that liner all night came pouring out of the bed once he took off. He had a 7 ft X 50 ft dead spot in his yard for months! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've been thinking about making a boom also. I was contemplating just taking some 1/2" pipe, and drilling holes and tapping to the size of the spray nozzles....

anyone tried this?? We might need to ask in the "build it yourself" group........

I use a similiar setup.... I dont think you need an agitator.

Put a few gallons of water in tank,,, add roundup,, finish filling.

then run the hand sprayer back through into the tank to clean water out of wand and maybe even mix it a tad more ( though it wont need it )..

It sound to me more like you just did not get even coverage from your spray pattern. It can be difficult with just a hand wand over any size area....

Dont feel bad I've seen it done many times with hand wands , ground rigs, and even airplanes with nozel problems.

Save your money on the agitator,,, you would almost have to be trying to keep it from mixing adequately...

Good luck

I"ve seen it done !!!

You can probably buy something as cheap as making it..

But if you have some of the parts just laying around go for it.

Keep in mind the the number of nozzels, the rate of flow your pump is capable of etc. You dont want to wind up without enough flow and pressure to properly operate the nozzels.

I agree with others that an agitator would be a waste of money. The general sloshing in the tank should keep it well mixed. I think your problem is with coverage. I'd suggest more nozzles. Test it on dry pavement with plain water to adjust your coverage.
