need info on how to replace stipped lug bolts

Generally, remove hub, press old lug bolt out, press new one in (I've cheated and used a lug bolt and spacer to draw new bolt into hub, not recommended), replace hub

depending on the design of the hub, there may be other ways, I've done some where I could beat the lug out w/ a sledge and then replace by the /not recommended/ method above

Pics would help us to recommend better

Most have a serrated shank that drives in. No press or porta power beat out w/ a hammer. Pressing out will require taking the axle out. Beating on the axle while in the tractor could have other ramifications so take it easy; they usuall are not that tight. Take one to NAPA and I guarantee they will have a replacement. You can drive the new ones in with a hammer. Option 1; take it to a tire shop that does commercial/farm work. They will get it done a lot cheaper than a tractor dealer shop.

Lug bolts are easy... just buy a new one.

Lug Studs have to forced out and the new one forced in.

I've seen old equipment that was run for decades missing a single lug...

Do you have the 'male' lugs as referred to above or the 'female' threads in your hubs that have stripped?
Many tractors have Bolts rather than 'Lugs'.

Google is your friend. "Recoil" or "Thread repair" should do it.

Or is this on your JD Z-turn? - In which case you have to pull the hub off the wheel-motor shaft. Big nut in the middle... puller etc. to get to the Lugs which are replaceable as per above posts.

Something that has really annoyed me lately (not that anyone else cares) is that many auto manufacturers are now using highly specialized wheel lug bolts. The days of having 3 or 4 different "universal" sizes that would fit almost anything are long gone.

Last time the tire shop stripped one of my Subaru bolts (using the stick-the-nut-in-the-rattle-gun-spin-it-up-to-2000rpm-and-stick-it-on method) it cost the shop about $300 in parts and labor to get it replaced with the Subaru-factory-part replacement bolt.

I had to replace the bolts on my 30 year old 5 ton Mercedes van; we were stuck in a parking lot on the very southwest tip of Europe. The local dealer got me the parts next day for a very reasonable price.

Luckily I had my motorbike and tools with me.

I had to pull the axle, which only transmits torque, then the bearing retainers to get the hub off.
On lighter vehicles, the weight rides on the axle.
So the answer to the original question is very dependent on the machine in question.
