Backed tractor up to hook-up my brush hog inside my Shelter Logic building. In the excitement, and mostly dark poorly lit area I could not see that I had unscrewed the adjustable double clevis with crank handle type side link enough that when I went to lift the hog off the cinder blocks the threads stripped out and rendered the side link unuseable. I was able to remove it completely, put the female end in my shop vise and cross thread the male end threads into the female end enough to get the hog up and running.
Now I want to repair the threads so it can function as designed.
Wondering if anyone knows what Kioti uses for threads on these link arms? It looks like a fine machine thread, but what size and where might I find someone who could chase the threads with the correct size tap/die?
I suspect a machine shop might have the needed tools to do so. It isn't a big job, just one that would take the correct thread to get things set right.
Any ideas appreciated.

TIA,

CM

I have no idea what thread size this is but if you have enough time and patience a 3 sided file will eventually get it usable again maybe even a dremel tool could help. The threads are large enough maybe to get the file to work. Hopefully it's the male threads that messed up... if not it might be time for a new one.

I have used this method with success a few times and have even used an angle grinder and carefully cut down the threads that are bad and the remaining threads might hold enough for it to work.

Thanks. Yes, I've done the file thing many times to stripped out threads. It IS the female threads on the inside near the opening, so very difficult to get at, but the Dremel tool is a good idea. I might be able to get them down enough to allow the male threads to start farther into the hole, and get it back and 'running'.
I also thought about and might resort, (as a last resort if nothing else works in reasonable time frame of effort to frustration), to cutting the tube the female threads are in just past the end damage point so the bad section would be eliminated completely. It might not make much difference except it would shorten the total unit length by a slight amount. But if it got the threads working as intended then mission accomplished.....

If there are threads past the damaged portion drill out the damaged section??

Torch & welder, nuts, threaded Rod = new piece??

Taking the whole link off and over to my tractor dealer to see what he has in his shop that might chase the female threads. I 'think' the male threads are still good, but will see when I dismantle it...
Thanks Egon for your suggestion, I'll see where I'm at later today...

FIXED!!!:cool2::dance1:
My Kioti tractor selling dealer fixed it for me, and made up an extension hose to fit my, (one of two) too short line from hoe to tractor: both for FREE!
Now that's great service.

BYW, anyone looking to fix the threads on a Kioti DK series side adjustable link, from around 2010, the threads are metric, 18 x 1.5

Now back to tractoring.

Phew, a guy at the dealer's had a pin break on his brush hog off the 3PH and when the hog dropped down it snapped off the PTO shaft at the tractor's PTO output....Oh Ouch! Has to drain 11 gallons of fluid and tear into it to replace PTO shaft....Don't envy him that job....

I wish I had such luck.

The adjustable side link that came on the B7200 was frozen with rust.
A trip to the bench vise got the upper eye threaded shank spinning, but that lower clevis would not budge. I got out the smoke wrench, and applied it generously.
The Threads started to move! With the aid of a 20 inch pipe wrench!

But then , as things cooled down, "The GRIP" took over. I wrenched until I could feel metal shearing inside.
Now, that end has 1/2 turn of free motion, then it's locked solid!

Wouldn't you know... TSC was out of the style needed. ;-)

I think one would have to split the rear axles off the rear end to get the PTO shaft replaced, from the looks of it, but not sure without taking a closer look. Maybe the PTO shaft and associated gearing can drop down through the bottom of the rear end? Does anyone happen to know how one would get at the PTO shaft for replacement? Seems like a total nightmare to get it done..... Maybe it has to get pulled out forward toward the front of the tractor, oh wait- it comes out through the glove box!
