Thank goodness we do not have any bears in this part of the state; we are quickly reverting to the primitive state however. When I was growing up here, you had to HUNT wild animals, and I only remember seeing one deer in the wild in my first 50 years. Now they are everywhere, eating my tomatoes and flowers; wild turkeys everywhere...and we have a resident fox, a couple of Canadian Geese, some Mallard Ducks, several Raccoons and enough song birds to keep me broke buying birdseed. Sharn Jean and I even ran on to some Bobcats in the park a while back, in broad daylight. We even have a few Mountain lions, although I have never seen one.
You guys can have the bears, though. There a few in the Southern part of the state, and they are coddled there. Was talking to a guy that killed one that was destroying his RV. He said he may go to jail over the incident; authorities were not amused, even though the bear was a threat. They would be a disaster in this area now, since we have grown from a sparsely populated rural area to a suburb consisting primarily of acreages.
