Stuck Clutch L225

The clutch on my L225 is stuck, will not disengage. Never heard of that as a potential problem until I read some posts on this board. I assume the plates are rusted together. Anything to try other than splitting the tractor? I have tried driving the tractor, working the clutch and brakes with no relief.

Try driving the tractor while holding the clutch down then accelerating and decelerating as violently as possible with the throttle. Since tractors are geared so low I would use a medium to hgh gear in order to get more kinetic energy from the speed and weight of the tractor jerking on the clutch.

I would add to CSAW post to press on the brakes at the same time. The fun part (be careful) is starting and taking off with tractor in gear by overiding the neutral safety switch. This is a two person job. One pilot and one jumper man.

First, nobody else near the tractor - safety is important. Put the tractor in neutral and move it to where there's some room around it.

Using a jack, lift both rear wheels 1"-2" off the ground and support the tractor on blocks or stands. Make sure tractor is in 2wd. Put transmission in low range first gear. Push the clutch pedal down so the switch allows the starter to work.

Start the tractor and run the engine at about 800 - 1000 rpm(wheels will be turning)

Then, with the clutch pedal still down and brake pedals locked together, step down hard on the brakes. The clutch should pop loose. If the engine stalls instead, try it again with engine at 1200.
