As the title says I cannot get the collar to slide on the mower drive shaft to allow it to come off and the mower deck to come out. I had this problem a couple years ago but I messed with it long enough and it finally released. This time I spent about 3 hours trying everything I could think of. Does anyone have any tricks to get it loose so I can get the rebuild kit and fix it.

Thanks,

Todd

Maybe spray it down with some PB blaster or even a light oil.
Then a small prybar to encourage it to slide.. carefully as to not damage it (further, if something is wrong that it needs rebuilt.

Try reaching the collar from the rear of the tractor as the non all-wheel-steer tractors I've found to be less strain and contortion of the body and arm/wrist action that way.

Any known reason that you think it needs a re-build (beyond that it doesn't seem to function right now)?

Biggest reason I think it needs rebuilt is this is the 2nd time the collar has locked up. Last time I took the snap ring out and disassembled it and cleaned it up. I figure that with the fact that they sell a rebuild kit there must be a need for it.
