Stuck for the night; need to spread gravel

I was running 2500-3000 rpm. Stopped it cold once.

Had to back out a bit sometimes when buckle wouldn't curl up. This is well-punched into the gravel.

I have a 4700 so we are talking different tractors. I run my around 2700 to 2900 when doing FEL work. If I dig to deep in a pile of clay or gravel and the bucket does not move that is all that happens. The engine does not have a problem. Usually what happens is I loose traction and the wheels start digging which is not a good thing. If the bucket is not moving I'll have to back out a bit and maybe loosen up the material.

But I have never had the engine lug or stall.

I don't understand why you would be able to stall the tractor.

Yes, I agree.

Same thing with my 4310. A different tractor again, but the engine never has a problem, just spinning tires when the gravel pile won't move. I run the RPM's at 2600 for loader work.

I can live with my little diesel shovel. One stall out of about 20-25 trips isn't bad. It sips a little less than 0.5 gallon of diesel/hour at full rpm. I can't see getting more hp just to never use it. Experienced this today taking my friend's Camaro to get it inspected. That thing has about 2-3 times more power than it needs. Can't tell where it is on the road in close quarters either. We're forever using the full 65 hp in the wife's car. Now, IT could use some more!

Finished spreading the gravel on my trail crossways through the wooded hill. Took all the 19.5 tons. Figured I'd have enough left over to do my culverted bridge over my little stream. Will have to order 3 or 4 more tons for this when mowing season gets close.

Time now to disassemble the soil ripper to use some of its pieces to mount my disc hillers on the 2x2 bar. My friend said he'd make me the 3 additional clamp pieces I need to mount the 1 1/4" shank to the bar.

The added couple of soil bags on top the soil ripper gave plenty of stability for going along the trail.
