Stuck in 4x4

Good Afternoon,

I have B1750 and from what I can tell it is stuck in 4x4. The lever just makes no difference one way or another. I suspect the shifting fork got loose inside the transfercase - what do you think?

To fix it I was going to take the transmission case cover off and check the fork - anybody has better idea?

On my tractor the shift lever has a 'set screw' that locks the lever in place on the shaft. (granted not same brand, but maybe)

Could it be that simple?
Might have loosened.

Taking off the cover won't hurt and you might actually find the problem. If it's like my B7100 it's very primative in there and easy to figure things out. PILOON helped me with my problem and he is very knowledgable /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

By stuck in 4x4, I would assume you mean you can't shift it? The lever is stuck, and won't move? If so, rock it forward and backwards a little, and try to shift. Sometimes the gear won't slip apart. This is common even in 4x4 pickups, Jeeps, ect.

If you can move the lever and nothing happens, then it may be the linkage inside the tranny. Expose asd much as you can to ensure it is not the linkage. I had a branch jam in part of my hi/low range linkage once. It caused the linkage to seperate. I could move the lever all over, but it did not move out of low range. Took about 5 miutes to reasemble the linkage once I understood what happened.

As often I didnt express myself clear:

the lever is moving up and down but it makes no difference. Yesterday I checked and the shaft is moving too - ie the pin from lever to the shifter is not sheared. Which means to me that the linkage is separated somewhere in the transfer case.

I think I will buy repair manual first adn than try to open it.
