Hey all - great forum! I've got a TC35D, 65 hours on it, less than a year old. It's been GREAT!! Quick question, I'm stuck in FWD, and can't seem to get shifted back to 2WD. I've got to head down the street tomorrow and would prefer to have it in 2WD. Tried "Feathering" the petals with no luck. Anyone else have this issue or do I need to send it back to the shop? Maybe I'm feathering wrong.
Thanks all!

The trick I found is put the tractor in reverse and ease it back as you operate the 4wd control.

If your tractor has a FEL use it to raise the front tires off the ground. I found the FWD difficult to disengauge without releasing the load on the front tires. FYI, my TC45D has R4's.

Thank you. We're still trying. No luck with the fel, or going backwards. It's an hst, so the clutch isn't an option. Just spoke with our local dealer, and they have similar suggestions. Seems we need to go the opposite direction as we were when engaging the fwd and try turning slightly, or coasting down a small incline. This is the first issue we've had, so thank heavens for warranties! Thank you all again.

Your profile doesn't indicate what tractor you have, but my TC25D has a clutch and I use it whenever engage a PTO or 4WD.

The Class III Boomers have an independent PTO so you do not need a clutch pedal on them all they have is left and right brake on the left side and forward and Back pedals on the right. At least the TC35D that I looked at was set up this way.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that.

I'm not sure how the FWD operates on a D model. On my standard I usually put downard pressure on the FWD lever while I am moving and swerve back and forth enough to unbind the front from the rear. It usually will just come out of FWD with light pressure when I hit the right spot.

Good Luck

My TC45D goes into and out of FWD very easily. The only time I ever got any resistance was when I was in FWD, pointed downhill, and in reverse. I shifted to neutral and changing to FWD was a snap. I think it's time to "exercise" your warranty. There is a difference in "being stiff" and what you describe. I'll bet none of the other tractors on your dealer's lot are that way. It sure sounds to me like you have something needing to be looked at by the service department. If you have done what everyone has suggested, it's time for a check-up in my opinion.

Don't know if this translates to NH but, as previously mentioned by JTN I always lift the front wheels off the ground goingin and out of 4wd and it makes it a lot easier. Once you finally get it out it would be worth trying.
