MF 1726E
The range shift mechanism on my 2018 MF 1726E sometimes gets stuck in gear--usually the turtle gear, which I use most--when I park it. Then I have to find a way to get it to neutral so I can start it. I take it out of 4x4, change the gear I'm in, and just shake everything until it finally breaks loose and I manage to get the lever into the neutral position. But sometimes it takes quite a while, and I'm afraid that some time I will not be able to free it. Do you have any idea why this happens, or how I can prevent it or resolve it when it does happen?

I don't know if this is similar to my MF being difficult to get out of gear and back to neutral, but for me I learned to just gentle tap the reverse pedal and then it moves to neutral easy.

What MF said. I also will NEVER stop and/or park my tractor while it's still in 4WD. Always shift out of 4 and into 2WD first. Any tension on the drive train and it will be hard to get it out of gear later.

Are you referring to a hydrostatic trans? I have the old-fashioned type.

Does your tractor require the Range lever in Neutral to start? Or just pressing the clutch pedal?

Anyway, as said above, these tractors spin the front axle up to 5% faster than the rear to help with turning radius. Therefore, on hard surfaces, this put the entire drivetrain under a lot of tension, pretty much like binding, hence why you shouldn't drive with the 4x4 engaged unless you really need.

If you park your tractor with the 4x4 disengaged, you'll noticed that you can move the range lever easily.

Yes, I have to have the range lever in neutral. I will try taking it out of 4x4, and see if that does it. Thnx for that suggestion, and for the reminder about not abusing 4x4!
