I have the bearing out of this hub but can't budge the outer race. Tried blaster and heat. Not sure which direction to take it out. Help.

Weld a bead around the inside of the race. Will shrink it enough to get it out.

I don't have a welder. Any other options?

$80-100 will get you a used welder on Craigslist... Otherwise, might try cutting through the race in several places and taking it out in pieces.

I know nothing about your particular equipment or bearing, I just noted you are talking about an outer race. Sometimes a man can take a cutting tool and cut into the race until little metal remains to be cut, and then strike it with a hammer or a chisel, etc.

Always be careful when you strike metal...protect vital areas, sharp metal can go flying.

Edit: A quote in the next post down reveals that Aaron has already offered this idea. Sorry to repeat.

Actually, when I've been in that situation, I use a Dremel tool w a cut-off disk. After the first cut, and not all the way through into the housing either, the bearing relaxes enough that it comes out easily in one piece.

reminds me of the day we went to the Massey dealer in Quincy Fl. we had an old disc harrow we were rebuilding, we couldnt get some of the old bearings apart, we brought them with us to help match up new ones and ask the old timers, how to get them a part, or if we needed to buy a whole assembly. The old man, spit in his can, picked up the bearing assembly, hefted it, up and down twice, like he was guessing its weight ?... then with surprizing speed and power Threw the **** thing on the concrete floor. bent over picked up the perfectly seperated peices, matched them up with new parts from the bins. and we were on our way. Lesson learned, you cant be gentle with stuff that you drag through the dirt all day.
