Stuck parking brake on a TN 75A

Help!!

When I pull up the handle on the parking brake (TN75A), it sets but won't release. When I push in the little orange knob at the end of the parking brake handle to release the brake, it fully depresses, but it does not release the brake- Its almost like the connecting rod is now too short to release the "ratchet". Sprayed a lot of wd40 on it, seemed to work for a bit, now its acting up again.... When I knock it around a bit, it will sometimes release....

Any ideas??

Are you also pulling up on the handle before using the button to release? If so, you may need to just lube the cable thoroughly and/or also adjust.
