Well, clotheslined I guess.. I saw Charlie I think stuck this way as well... And it just happened... Trying to not fall off the slope (road cut into hillside from camera point) and trying to get around a small tree and crabbed my way into another one... Had to take out 3 trees. really bummed... And bummed I got stuck and the wife had a camera...

Anyone know how to do a reverse crab?

Carl

You could have crabbed around the tree until it was facing downhill, or you could have used the implement on the front to lift the front tires, and swing right and left until you were free.

A come along comes in handy sometimes.

Bummer! As J_J mentioned, I have had good luck driving around to the downhill side of the obstruction, then crabbing away from it. However, if there are just more obstructions downhill, the point is moot.

Also mentioned by J_J is this technique:

1. Without using the directional pedals... Steer away from the obstruction until the steering is at full lock.
2. Lower your implement until the front tires are off the ground.
3. Turn the steering wheel towards the obstruction to the other full lock.
4. Raise the implement until all the weight is on the front tires again.

You should now be a couple inches away from the obstruction. Repeat the above procedure as many times as needed until your tires can clear the obstruction and then drive away. :)

Clotheslined eh?... I like it. Clotheslining and the PT pucker: if you haven't bagged those two you're not properly initiated into the club. You do have a PT pucker don't you? A real Clotheslining of course requires cutting the tree:) How many points get deducted if the tree survives? How many extra points for pictures?

You flatlanders will have to find an initiation ditch,

Flatlander? Man, come mow my slopes. I hope I can get some good video tomorrow....

Had to cut the tree. Actually trees (3) to my wifes complete dismay. Freed myself from one and would just roll into another. Will practice implement crab tomorrow on some flat land..

My signature photo says it all. That tree didn't survive the chainsaw, fersure. Neither did the armrest on that side of the seat... Kinda wasn't paying attention.

I like the crab around to the "downhill" side approach that the others have talked about too. But sometimes Mr. Chainsaw is your only friend. Welcome to the club. I've only had to cut down about 5 trees during the life of my PT
