Well, me and my 40 degree mouth got high centered on a stump out in the middle of nowhere. Boy did that ever suck. I was going over a steep lip of a small ravine and clunk. Walk back, get a shovel, walk out, dig for an hour... Front bucket was no help as the drop off was too severe...

Had to dig myself out. Yuckkkkkk.... Going to get that winch hooked up for my next adventure....

I'm telling you, man, you need one of these.
It won't get you unstuck, but you could take a break and burn off some frustration. :D

Would a high lift jack have helped? I know with the ascillation between the two sections, it may not. But a high lift jack can also be used as a come along type winch.

Good idea and yes, it would have with a little messing around. Problem is my jack is way to heavy for me to carry...

Is there any where to mount the jack on the tractor? Like the side of the loader arm, the side along the engine compartment, etc...?

I carry a boat hand power whinch. It works very well. Plenty of pull and a fair amount of distance.

I carry the whinch on the ROP rack.

You know, I never thought much of hand winches until two days ago. A friend of mine had his Suburban go dead on him. Another guy we work with brought an OLD car dolly with a little tiny hand winch on it. I thought NO WAY is that thing going to crank the Suburban up those ramps. It sure did. Pretty easily, too. I have a 1200 pound trailer winch in my basement that I was going to use for a boat trailer but never got around to it. I might just mount it to a 2" receiver bar for emergencies.

Mine has two speeds. I think that's a big help. For something as light as the PT the cranking is easy. The only problem is you cannot crank and drive at the same time. The strap will stretch a little while cranking and then you can drive a little. So it's OK.
