For some time now my BX25 engine has been cutting out intermittently when depressing the HST pedal. A couple times changed the fuel filter and it cleared up. Yesterday it died out in the field and could not get it to resume like it usually did. Changed fuel filter and no help this time. Slowly moved crawling it to firm ground by barely touching the HST pedal; then drug to the shop with the PU. Got there and it started working again.

Pulled out the WSM and started research on the electrical interlocks as that seemed to be the source. The HST interlock switch is behind the right rear tire. Jacked up and put on stands so I could run it as if on ground. Could not get a failure. I hate these intermittent problems; they never happen during testing. Checked the HST switch over and determined the mounting screws were loose moving the switch to the back of the slotted mount. Moved it all the way forward and tightened the screws (they are a 10-32 Phillips head self tapping type and no lock washer). Ran 6 hours today with brush hog and no problem. I think that was the problem; knock on wood.

Tomorrow I will get two hardened torque or hex socket head screws with lock washers and "LOCKTITE" as a permanent fix.

Add this to your data base on BX problems/fixes.

My L3700 had a intermittent shut off issue. I thought it was the seat switch and replaced it. .. It wasn't the issue.. Thought it was maybe a PTO safety switch.. It wasn't. ... Talked to the dealer and he said to check the battery terminals.. It wasn't them either. Ended up being a loose wire in the back of the starter. Some dielectric grease solved my issue.

I believe there are 2 fuel filters. Have you changed them both?

They both get changed. The one closest to the engine is to prevent anything getting to the main injector pump. That is a good insurance one to protect that high dollar part. They are cheap.

Sure sounds like an interlock...

If it did it at any speed or pedal I would guess fuel... my rubber line had a pinhole puncture that gave me a little grief... a thorny twig poked it.

Just curious why this is posted in the "DEERE" forum and not the "KUBOTA" forum? :)

EDIT: After I posted I see that Deere is in all caps and Kubota is lower case. I put them both in all caps and quotes, so the software did that, not me. Just pointing that out so the JD guy isn't perceived as slighting his orange brethren.

Sounds like fuel to me. If not filters maybe a suction leak. With the key on but the engine not running, can you hear the clicking of the fuel pump? Could also be an obstruction in the fuel tank restricting flow. Does it smoke when it's bogged down?

Good going and nothing better than putting a problem to rest.

I had a bent interlock bracket that caused similar problems.... it was actually caked with mud from trying to drive the BX when conditions were sloppy... learned my limits and learned a lesson... took a longtime to clean out all the the adobe mud that basically stopped the tractor cold as it continued to build up.
