I've got gas....ummmm, well, the mower actually has gas coming from somewhere, and I can't figure out where.

I've already replaced the tank and fuel lines with new. Bottom of the carb is dry. Area around the inline fuel filter is dry. Visible fuel lines are dry.

Mower resides in the garage and there is no gas puddle on the concrete but when I start it up, it then makes a puddle, followed by drips as I exit the garage. It starts fine and runs fine.

Anywhere else I can check for this leak?

Thanks.

Fuel pump, if it has a Kohler engine

Patches, you are correct: Kohler 15hp. Didn't even know the thing had a fuel pump, but then, I'm not mechanically inclined in the least.

I googled the problem, and found another thing it could be is the float in the carb is sticking, allowing fuel to leak into the cylinder while it's sitting. Maybe that would explain the fuel being blown out of the muffler when I cranked it yesterday.

The solution to that problem was given as a carb rebuild kit, or simply turning the fuel flow off at the inline fuel filter when finished for the day, which is what I did.

I suppose the test will be if it still spits fuel out the muffler today, it must be the pump; otherwise, must be the float.

My STX is gravity feed. The original float needle valve on mine had an elastomer (rubber) tip that went bad. The replacement was solid brass, and never sealed as well as the original.
I always shut off the fuel valve when the engine is not running.

Must be that needle valve. After sitting overnight with the fuel shut off, I turned on the fuel and cranked her up yesterday - no signs of fuel mist or spill. Guess I'll have to start shutting mine off too. No need replacing it if it doesn't work much better.

Thanks again.
