Hi All,

I have an idea for some new attachments and I had a question. My new attachment would be primarily for sub compact tractors that have various types of pin-on loader attachments. Does anyone know of a resource where I could locate the dimensions for these various systems. For example, if I wanted the pin diameter, locations, vertical, and horizontal distance on a Massey DL100 FEL, would my only option be to go to a dealership and actually measure one? I'm not cheap and I'm not lazy, but I do like to be efficient!

Thanks. Great community here.

With JD, and I'm guess the other brands are the same, you can get a general idea by looking at an on-line parts catalog. But I don't think any of them are going to give away any exact dimensions. So, yes, you will have to go look at one or ask a friend here on TBN.

and welcome!

As someone who did engineering and design for 35 years, my advice is to go measure it yourself, unless you have access to the revised engineering drawings used to fabricated the current model. What shows up in owner's manuals or service manuals is usually a representation of the equipment.

You'll discover a whole lot of things that aren't shown in drawings by doing a field investigation yourself.

Thanks, guys. You suspected my suspicions. If you can't find it on a Google search, odds are it doesn't exist.

Bigtiller, you gave me another idea though. With the community here, I'll bet I could post a wanted ad (if it doesn't violate TOS) and pay something like $30 a pop for someone to make the measurements off of their tractor. To be sure it was good, accurate data, I could ask them to also provide a picture of a set of dial calipers sitting on top of their bucket so I know they used proper equipment. Like I said, I'm not cheap, just striving for efficiency.

The old saying, if you want something done right do it your self, would apply here. There is no savings in short cuts and a bad measurement could cost a lot.

There are several "Universal" or "Adjustable" mounting systems for different FEL's.

I don't think there are many different pin sizes, so you may not need precise measurements.

Had a reply typed up and lost it. I hate that!

What are you designing?

I had an LPGS designed up in 3D. Used standards I found online (this forum mostly) for a 3-pt quick-hitch. Also had a SSQA plate designed up using the ASME standard. It was fun, but lost it when my thumb drive died (when I have $400 to blow, I'll see if it can be recovered).

Any standards you can find are worth referencing. I bet you find that a copy of a copy of a copy can be pretty different. Maybe still usable, but different. Likewise, sometimes adhering exactly to the standard won't work either.

Anyway, just curious what you have cookin'.
