Sub-soiler, sorta

I have a need to bury a short run of cable. It's only about 20 to 30 feet of satellite dish cable that the installer neglected.

So, rather than buy a sub-soiler, I attached a 1-1/2 inch NPT pipe flange on the bottom of my rear blade and screwed in a 12" length of pipe. See attached photo.

Here's a shot showing the test run. I was REALLY happy with the result. It cut a nice trench, maybe 6 inches or so deep - roots and all.

I'm thinking I might cut or grind an angle on the business end of the pipe to give it a little more "tooth". Also, I'm getting a piece of heavier wall pipe (schedule 80), just in case...

Cool, about what my potato plow will do, except your dirt looks much better than my clay, but hey we both have a test trench now.

Someone on here had a neat set up for cutting a trench, burying the cable and never even having to cover the trench, but dag gum if I know where.

Neat tool.........or is that a toy to give you more seat time

Just go to TSC or tractor place or about any old hardware store (feed, seed places) and just by a hoe and attach to the pipe... Just a couple of bolts and you have a home make tater plow.
