Traction Substitute for Suitcase Weights

I recently bought a box blade for my 1026. It didn't take long for me to figure out I need some extra weight on the front. I live 65 miles from my dealer and won't have a chance to go there any time soon. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can use in the meantime? I'm brainstorming now to figure out what I've got around the house that I can use. Thanks.

You could always get some lumber and built a tray for the front and throw some bags of sand or cement on it. kinda ghetto but hey it would work. just gonna have to use creativity on how to hang said tray

When at the steel shop Monday steel plate was selling for 56 cents a lb. The Deere weights are 42 lbs each and about $48. You could make them from heavy plate for alot less money if a steel shop is closer to you. Other wise a box of rocks would be a temporary fix.

Not sure just how quickly you need them, but in 2010 we purchased our first 2 from THD. Free shipping to your door. I checked my paperwork and see we paid $46 for each in 2010. Seems they have gone up.

5g buckets foull of concret have worked for me.. or you can custom cast yer own concrete hanger weights using some fence wire, and bolts,a nd easy to make concrete forms ( old drums or buckets or pans, styrofoam.. etc.. etc..

i made some for the front of my 4600 ford. once cast and cured.. a lil black paint made em look almost like cast iron weights from a few feet away. cost was super cheap.. just some scrap wire and bolts for mounting, and bags of 'crete.

used old big feed pan as a form, and some cooking pan coating as a release agent..

Very nice! Brush hogging... nah, that tractor would be really sweet on the front end of my hay baler! :thumbsup:
