I have a sensative feel for mechanical responses from 30+ years running engine dynamometers pushing the engine limits and swear SUDT has made my machine spongy. I no longer have the BX24 herky jerky reverse pedal symptom anymore either.
I changed all my axle fluids to SUDT2 at my 400 hr. mark because I thought for a c-note for five gallons it was the hydraulic fluid to use. When it poured out like Wesson Vegtable oil I checked the label as it was just supprsingly thin (flashbacks to 5w-30 oil introduction). Thinking I could give it an advantage in MI winter it was worth the cost as well as proposed better heat transfer ability in summer.
Today and yesterday I took out two 35+ year old Blue Spruce stumps cut down in winter while sap level was chain saw compatable. I had replaced the backhoe bucket with a Bro-Tek ripper tooth and had at it. Many of those roots were 4" easy and took a lot of control action to get through. I just noticed less of a response or sharpness to the control levers. Even the stabalizers seemed slugish at 2800 rpm. Also noticed what off idle RPM after starting, I used to get hydralic response to lift the bucket and now get nothing. Seems an extra 200+ RPM was required to get any response.
Has anyone else experienced a difference in hydraulic response with SUDT fluid when switching?
Thanks for any feedback.
