We all love to see the photos submitted on the groups - in many cases they are worth more than a 'thousand words'. But, many of us living in rural area's are on dial-up, and large images (500k+) take forever to download.

This is a simple request, that you take a moment to reduce images to between 60 to 100kb for those of us for whom the information highway is not yet paved!

There are freely available programs such as 'ImageResizer' that will do this in just a few seconds. I for one would really appreciate this!

Cheers - EanJay

I think that is a reasonable and fair request. I will make an effort to do so.

If I may, another good suggestion: Photobucket has some really cool tools.

(You can click on the little picture to see it full size)

In a photography forum I belong to in the subject line they put large photo or l/p to warn those with dial up. But there the large size is needed to so very high quality pictures. Here the size of 480 dpi should be good enough to enjoy all the helpful info. I think you have a good idea. But for those that have to post large pictures maybe post "large pic" or something like that. Then we have a choice to view or not to view.

My 2 cents worth if inflations has not over priced it.

Don't all attached pix have the file size right next to the file name?

They do, but those on dial-up may still wish to see the picture, It's simply, how much resolution is really require to convey the infomation. PhotoBucket seems like a 'neat' compromise solution for everyone.

The file size works if the picture is attached. If the picture is inline "meaning as part of the post" the dial-up user doesn't get a choice.

That's right, 2 or 3 500kb photos included in a posting, and you might as well go watch paint dry if you have dial-up!

Defective's sample using 'PhotoBucket' was cute, made it possible to judge if the wait would be worth while... then 'click' for the larger image. But then, the sample included was only a 116kb anyway, so download was quite reasonable.

I'm fairly new to these forums and I don't yet know how to post pictures very well. If I start a new post, the only way I can see to put a picture is via the little paperclip named "Attachments".

I click that, and a new window opens with "Manage Attachments" - and I can upload from my computer. However, the picture always appears as part of my post.

Not like everyone else, where there are 1,2 or 3+ pictures, with the name and filesize, but you have to click to see it.

How can you post pictures like that? Thanks in advance! :)
