There's 2 types of "night vision" scopes. One uses light intensifier to basically magnify any available light. Thermal uses heat differential to present the image objects in field of view. Image intensifiers can be augmented with a "lightsource" in their operating frequency that's not visible to the naked eye giving the user a brighter image. Problem with those lightsources is the same as a flashlight: you cant get them to project really far with out spending good money. There are scopes available that can get out to about 75yards for under $600 on ambient lighting. If you really want to reach out to the extent of your 30.06 then your gonna have to spend some considerable cash. For around $2000 you can get out to 300-400 yards without augmentation. So the question is how much do you hate coyotes? Poison is a much cheaper option but certainly not as directly effective. And a good night scope has other uses as well.
