Hey everyone!

I just bought a used Danuser F8 locally. It's crazy heavy, and I am really looking forward to trying it out.

I went to hook it up for the first time and discovered that it will not fit my Category 1 hitch (lower links too large). They make a hardware kit (pretty expensive) to replace the lower pins with Category 1 size, but the old category 2 pins are seriously rusted into the sockets (the attachment is like a long pipe or sleeve, about 8 inches long versus a threaded end on my other attachments).

The rust is not anywhere near a concern for the implement's strength, but I doubt I'll be able to pull these pins out of the sleeves.

Do you guys have any suggestions for another way to mate a category 2 implement onto a category 1 tractor?

Any remote chance there's someone out there with a category 1 F8 and a category 1-and-2 tractor who would be interested in swapping the hoop portion of the digger?

I'm punting here...

Cut them off and weld new cat 1 pins on... $5 and the cost of welding

Don't over think it.

THe lift pins are held in with 7/16"x1-3/4" roll pins. Did you remove these?

Excellent point hosspuller. I agree, and appreciate the sentiment.

I don't know how to weld, and don't have a welder; but I do want to learn and get one very soon. Do you have a recommendation on type and brand?

I did think about looking for someone to do this for me. I'd sort of prefer to keep the PHD in original condition in case I want to resell it later, but I'm not dead set on it.

fluggies4, I did get the roller pins out prior to posting this, but thanks. I was lucky to notice them because they were filled with dirt/grease, and not obvious at first glance. They were tough enough to get out with penetrating oil, so I was very intimidated by the size of the link pins themselves.

Long story short here though is I took the "hoop" portion off and brought it to a farm supply store, and they got the rusted pins out with heat (after I had put penetrating oil on them for a couple days). I was surprised they got them since the length was over 5" inside the sleeve, tight with rust. When they got them out, we found that they were reversible!

I switched them around to the Cat 1 side (after a good clean, polish, and greasing) and put them on the tractor last night for practice run at a first dig. Now I have to replace the cutting teeth and the sheer pin (failed pretty easy, and may have been bad to start with).

I'll get this baby in the ground yet!!
