Suitable hose for diesel

A neighbor gave me 10 feet of 1 inch fuel line off an old fuel pump which seems to work fine. What does Mr Funnel do? I presume it filters the fuel? Any other options for pre-filtering?

Moosetracks , Mr Funnel also removes any water from your fuel . That is ,it removes any "free " water from your fuel .
It won't work if you've added a water emulsifier or shaken up your fuel container . John
