Because posters to this forum frequently inquire as to prices for used implements, I thought I'd post this summary of prices from a local consignment auction of farm equipment this past weekend. These prices are for equipment in reasonably good condition, requiring no significant maintenance or only light repairs before use. These prices are on the high side for this area (south-central KY) as the auction was well stocked and well attended (ca. 400 bidders) and spring is the optimal selling season. Equipment sized for compact or utility tractors generally sells for premium prices. For example, a 6 lift disc harrow may sell for more than a 10 pull-behind, and larger plows are a steal. Hope this helps those of you out looking.

Plows:
Ford 101, 3-bottom, 16 inch, reconditioned, very nice shape, w/coulters $425
MF M43, 3-bottom, 16 inch, reasonable shape, no coulters, $250

Tractors:
Ford 3600, 2135 hours $3900
MF 235, 1500 hours $4300
MF 135, 3500 hours, $2600

Mowers:
Ford 5' rotary mower, seals leaking, with PTO shaft $275
Ford 6' rotary mower, with PTO shaft $310
Ford 7' sickle bar, nice shape, pitman arm type $350
Late model Italian (? brand) 7 disc mower, very nice shape, very heavily built $3000

Miscellaneous:
12' pull-type cultipacker, large diameter packing wheels $825
heavy-duty rear carryall frame $45
heavy-duty boom pole, near new $90
6' (may have been cut down) MultiPurpose brand lift disc, 20 discs, OK condition $350
4' pull-behind pasture aerator (spider wheel type) $70
5' light duty rear blade, no tilt, nearly new $60
Herd M-96 seeder/spreader for 3-pt. Needed new tractor end on PTO shaft. $180
12' corral panels, new $50
1-row cultivator, needed a couple of springs, otherwise good $40
PTO driven post hole diggers are apparently made of gold regardless of condition. They always sell for ca. $300.

Unless it was trashed, the 135 was a steal at $2600. One that's just barely running brings $4000 to $5500 here. The 3600 Ford was a decent bargain too. 235's sell good but have their issues with the front axle/steering. If I would have been there, the #43 MF plows would have made the ride home with me at that price, coulters or not.

Funny in a way, equipment that is in rough condition seems to bring just about the same money as near mint condition at many auctions. People get those competitive juices flowing and they loose all sense of value

I'd like to ad the two bargains from the last auction that I was at (the ones that stuck in my head that is):

Taylorway 3pt BH 7footish new on crate $3100

Woods 7500 (not the new curved boom) 3pt BH new on crate $3200

I know for sure the Woods had a bucket
