Well here is what I've gotten done through the summer. I hoped it would be done but I had to take a month off for Schooling. I think it's come out nice so far.

What you'll be looking at was formerly treed and totally overgrown land off the side of our house. We are going to take more trees down, then finish grade it and plant grass - then our horse barn will be going up. I've got a lot to go, but I thought it would be good to show you my progress.

There is no doubt real heavy equipment would have done this faster, but I would have missed all the fun of doing it myself! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had trouble uploading the rest even though they were under the size limit, so I moved over to the gallery and posted them there.

The pics sure don't show just how much work this has been - thank goodness the tractor has done most of the work! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Our land around here is very rocky, and very heavily treed and overgrown with brush. I plan to push back about another 100', and then start heading east towards our rear lot.

Next weekend more trees start falling! Anyone need firewood???

I know exactly what you mean. All of my pics combined have never shown what I feel is a real result compared to all the work that was needed.
I like the first shot the best, really nice trees. Looks like a great place to relax and have a picnic! thanks for posting your pics. John

I did that last year. One benifit is you can lose weight /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I tried to get folks to come in and cut for firewood, 1 taker and he took 1 pickup load, loaded level. The only rule I had was if its in my pile, it was mine. If it was dropped, cut it and take it, if it was already cut, take it. Couldnt give it away. I sold 3 cords this summer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I had the time I would split and sell it. I should take a pic of the pile I already have cut and cleared - 10' high and not rotting fast enough for me. I may have a burn this winter to get the pile down - that requires a permit up here. I'm talking to a fellow that works at our feed&grain. He also sells firewood - so I told him come up and drop em... I'll clear the brush and branches, all I want him to do is cut and haul out the good wood.

If you look real close, in that 1st pic you can see the Deere, not the 4 legged kind, in the top right... I ended the day by clearing that section as well. I wish I had a week I could devote to this - I may do that in November. I just started a new job and I don't want to be asking for time off already.

Thanks... and the funny part is I still have so far to go. I'd say I've got a good sized field for the horses to get settled in. So if I can get them over here and using that land, i can get to work on the rest of it. 8 acres doesn't sound like much until you start clearing it - I'll bet I haven't done more than 2 acres total so far.
