I have been reading about the snow and seeing the snow pictures all winter long. Kinda made me envious because I rarely see snow in the Houston area. Well, I know some of you folks are sick of snow by now and ready for spring. I feel your pain. Now you can feel my pain. Today I spent four hours on my tractor leveling four dump truck loads of crushed concrete on my driveway where I will be building soon. The sky was clear and the sun was shining brightly. That is a blessing in itself, given all the rainy days we have had here in the past two months. Around 12:30 pm my wife showed up with a shrimp and oyster poorboy so I climbed off my tractor and sat in the car with her while we ate lunch. I wore shorts today and since the temp. was only supposed to be in the lower 70's I did not give much thought to my exposed legs. After all it is still officially winter and I do have a canopy on my tractor. While I was eating I noticed that my legs were glowing. I looked at them and saw a pair of the reddest legs I have seen since my last trip to Galveston beach in the middle of summer! Since it was cool and very windy I did not notice that my legs were not protected by my canopy and got quite fried by the late winter sun. My legs began to burn once I noticed their red condition. I could not wait to finish up so I could go home and hide from the sun for the rest of the day. At least I got in some quality seat time today. I have been trying for a month between rain showers to get my driveway leveled enough to get the dump trucks over to dump a few loads of crushed concrete and I surely enjoyed getting a few hours in on my tractor on my three acres out in the country.

I know that my sunburned legs may not be of much interest to most folks but I am here to tell you folks in the midwest and northeast to hang in there because winter will soon be gone and the dog days of summer will be back with us all. Enjoy the "cool" weather while you can 'cause its gonna be hot soon enough!

This is going to sound weird, but if the pain gets too bad, try some preperation H. It works.

Ha! That is a new one on me! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I have kept my legs slathered with aloe vera lotion all evening and it has helped but I will keep your remedy in mind! Thanks!

Oh, and by the way. Tick season is upon us, too. I was out in the woods in south Ark. last weekend and brought home one of the bloodsucking little parasites. I drove home Monday afternoon, worked Monday night and Tuesday morning I took a shower before I went home and there the little bugger was, right on my belly! Argh! Ticks, mosquitoes, gnats, chiggers, heat, humidity! No wonder I love winter!

Chris, I know it sounds a bit weird, but I'll bet you'd like the results of using the Preparation H better than the aloe vera. I've got a nephew who thought my wife was crazy when she told him to use Preparation H for some pimples on his face. But after trying it, he thought she was brilliant. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

OK, so now the old punch line.... do you put it on the sunburn or...?

Sorry, couldn't resist... edit if you must /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know lots of folks who could benfit greatly by using it for shampoo, but that's another remedy. It goes on the sunburn. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Chris I hope you pulled that tick out gently. Keep an eye on the spot for a week or so for signs of a rash.

Well, Cindi and Bird. The aloe vera ain't cuttin' it! I think these long pants I am having to wear at work today are causing my legs to blister. I have looked around here at work for some Prep H and all I can find are the suppositories. I am about desperate enough to try to smear one on my legs to get some relief! Wonder if I should nuke one in the microwave to soften it up?/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I would sure get some funny looks from my co-workers if they saw me heating a suppository in the microwave! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Now that's one I haven't heard of anyone trying; maybe you should try it and let us know if it works as well the stuff in the tube. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Even with the 25+ inches of snow we got on 2/15 - 2/16, The sun was REAL BRIGHT!

I had 8 hours seat time running the loader on 2/17. Had a real nice burn on my face. I was wearing a ski cap and my forehead at the hairline was white. Nice contrast to my RED face!

Never thought of using sunblock in February.
