sunk ocean liner move question

I remember.. or.. 25 or 30 ys ago maybee watching a movie about a sunk ocean liner that had people still living on it after it sunk... IE. the had an air pocket, and some crew and passangers survived.. etc.. and started farming seaweed .. etc... Years later on people found them using a diving sphere and someone tapped out on the hull, from the inside, 'danger air toxic '.. anyway.. when the divers boarded the ship, one was shot by one of the 'crew' of the ship.

I can't for the life of me remember the name of this movie.. anybody else?

What made you remember it? I ask because the other day I heard some Cajun music and remembered the movie Southern Comfort seemingly out of the blue. Haven't seen the movie in 20+ years but it popped right in my head.

Oh yes. Southern Comfort (the movie) I remember that one. Weekend warriors against the cajuns.
