TC 40D w/ SuperSteer
I've been considering a TC35D/40D. One of the big appeals of NH for me is SuperSteer. But I've noticed in all of the NH literature, they always show it with a mmm. Does anyone use a rear mower on a tractor w/ SuperSteer? Is it still any advantage?

After reading the posts about how the loader moves the opposite direction when you turn the wheel while moving slow, and watching the JD video where they show the NH w/ SuperSteer having more trouble than the JD getting around in a barn (if that is accurate), I'm starting to wonder if it is great as it seems. I'll be mowing 11 acres with it, over 6 has quiet a few scattered trees to mow around.

Thanks.

Buy it. I have a 45D w/SS and use a 6' rear discharge mower on 16 acres with lots of trees. I love it. No wheel scuffing, great for any mowing. I have never seen anyone who has it say they would like to dump it. The slow speed handling is different but can be used to your advantage after you get the hang of it. Sure is not a reason to not buy it. Trust me, you will not go wrong! I also suggest you go with the 40 or a 45. Get the extra cylinder! (4 cyl vs 3 cyl) The size is no big deal. I just traded my 40D for a 45D and can really tell the difference with the extra 5 HP on the same size tractor. Last but not least, the Hydro is a must for mowing. I mow about 10 of my 16 acres, the Hydro cut a full hour off of my total time by being able to speed up in short grass and cutting around the lake. Forward and back with a rear mount cutter or finish mower is great!

when the competition does not have something that they would like to have they are always going to try to show disadavantages. once the patents are gone on this design or the competition figures out how to duplicate it with out infringment you will find it on there tractors. once this happens you will find that supersteer becomes standard equipment instead of an option

I have a TC40D with Super Steer and use both a rear mounted rotory cutter and a rear mounted finish mower. Super Steer just lets you turn tighter, which comes in handy some times. It really depends on what the area you are mowing is like. The front end moving in the opposite direction at first when the wheels are turned tightly at low speed is just something you get used to. I had to think about it at first but after using the tractor for a while it's not a problem. I'd get it again if I was ordering another tractor.

I have the TC33D with the SuperSteer. While using a rear bush hog. I have no problems; when turning at the end of a row (using a bush hog, disk, or cultivator) it helps a lot. One of the things I like about the front end moving while stopped is that you can move the three-point-hitch side to side by just turning the steering wheel some. This makes hooking up an implement even easier.

I have a 40D but no SuperSteer and can't imagine needing it. The regular 40D has a fairly tight turning radius as it is. With a rear mower, turning any sharper would just mean I'd have cut back quicker and hit more trees. I'm more than happy without it. My recommendation, spend the extra and get the 40D instead. If you plan to primarily use it for mowing, and still use it for other things like some farm use and maybe some FEL work, I'd also recommend the Industrial Tires. I've found they make a significant difference in how much your mowed area gets torn up by the front tires. Even on the sharpest turns, I've yet to do damage where with my old 1720 constantly ripped the surface right off grass with the front AG tires.
