Supertak SK140 vs Fecon FTX 148 ??

Anyone run these side by side ? I've run the 148 and it was quite impressive but one guy said they don't compare to the SK140. The 148 is supposed to be making 61gpm at 6000psi and the 140 is supposed to be 40 at 5500 but there is a separate pump for the drive and loader.. so one would think the 148 would cut better ???? The Cat dealers up here are gonna be dealers for the Supertraks so parts etc will be close. Maybe.

All I will say is this, and its right there in front of you. The 148 was designed to be what it is from the beginning. The 148 is close to the GT-25 in size but 100h.p. less so there's reserve in the frame I feel. Even if the flows were the same I would go towards the dedicated machine. You rarely see a fecon burned!!
Hopefully SSP&M will add here. He has a SK120, he and his father have run the 148 and liked it. But they wouldn't sell just the carrier.
I think there is a need for a skid steer in a fleet of mulchers, just as there is a need for what the 148 could do for you.

Yeah Robbie I figured the same, Fecon has room there for 200hp !! and it would be one heck of a machine with 200 but the price goes up as well, I have heard of alot of Cats burning and that scares me a bit. My skids work well just looking for more power in a small package but they rarely do. The guys at Fecon were great and the machine was definately nice. One thing with the 148 as well is its a skidsteer mount so I could use my 180 on it too, man would that cut.

OK I can't stand it anymore I have to stick my nose in here on this one. I agree with both of you that the FTX with a bigger engine would rule the woods. The Supertrak has about 128 theoretical hydraulic horsepower and the Fecon has 213 tHHP. tHHP can exceed engine horsepower because of the efficiency losses. Both machines have a closed loop system running the attachment but one is much more power than the other. One is much larger with a hydraulic cab lift and one has huge engine and hydraulic coolers with reversing fans on both systems. And finally one weight two tons more than the other one (steel track versions). Purpose built is the way to go. A fella brought an SK 120 out to NM and he had to get a different set of tracks before the end of the first week, this is second hand info but from a reliable source.

The Fecon 148 and the SK140 run the exact same engine. Its the Cat 4.4 at 140hp. I think fecon claims 142hp to be exact, but its the same configuration number. The hydraulics are different on the two. The supertrak 140 will out cut the 148 but not enough to matter. They also said they could cut there pumps up to 6000psi but didnt think the extra psi would help, just add more heat.

Comfort.....no question who the winner is here...fecon all the way.

Price....Supertrak has also gotten more pricey in the last 2 years so i would say fecon wins this too.

Maintenance....Fecon wins hands down although i havent actually worked on one but its not a skid steer.

The only thing that bothers me on the fecon is the undercarraige, when you turned really tight the belts would slip and twist really bad on the drive gear, but since i demod they have introduced there steel track version.

I wouldnt get rid of all my CTL skids for one 148 but i would definatly replace one of them with it.

Also, the size of the fecon compared to the loaders makes me wish fecon would bump the hp up and put maybe a small 6cyl 225hp cummins or something in it.

I just wish there were more fecon 148 out there to see some with 3000-5000hrs to see how they are holding up....not saying the sk140 will do any better.
