What is typical order-to-arrival time for surpluscenter.com to the NorthEast?

Usually take 2-3 days to process and 3-4 days to get in Boston,MA area.

It was 9 days on a recent hyd pump for me in W. Pa.pgh.

I put in an order this morning - 4 hoses and a few fittings. Shipping to Mass. I'll report when they show up.

They are slow compared to other online vendors. Last order I posted Thursday 9 am est. Didn't ship till monday. Way too slow. If they are an old family owned business, it wouldn't suprise me.

Thats a vulnerable part of their business model. I'd tighten that up if I were them.

My order was shipped today - about 24 hours between on-line order and shipped. Not too bad. Now it's up to UPS...

What was your shipping method ? I have found that they only process orders that quick if you get 3-day shipping , with ground they dont care about the process time. I placed an order on Tuesday the 19th at 8:00 am and I just got the package today at 4:30pm. Tracking revealed that UPS got the package on Friday the 22nd at 6:00pm that is pathetic 4 full days to process.

I've had a lot shipped from SC and have not experienced an inordinate amount of time involved. Not as fast as McMaster-Carr, but then a lot depends on the volume and service UPS provides them. But hey, don't have to leave home to order and get it moving. That in itself, along with good people to work with, means a lot to me.
Also, Deere next-day is great when needed. If anything, we can get spoiled real fast.

Once a package is in the UPS system, they all get the same level of service for a given shipping method.

My only experience with Surplus Center was satisfaction with the product and annoyance with the amount of time it took to pick and ship it. There is simply no excuse for taking 3 days to pick & ship a simple order of hoses & fittings that were listed as "in stock" at the time of order. I should not have to pay expedited shipping to get somebody off their butt to fill my order. UPS did their end of the deal in a timely manner.

I'm using std. ground - cheapest method offered. So far, ordered on the 25th, picked and shipped on the 26th, left Nebraska on the 27th, and it's been sitting since then in Illinois, where it is apparently being blockaded by rogue Democrats.

Just departed Illinois this morning (29th) - wow, 40 hours to make it though a UPS distribution center - that's a lot.

Economy is down (vote Nov 2), less goods being purchased, being shipped, and fewer trucks on the road delivering. It all is affected by the economy.

Likely, UPS is affected greatly by the slow down and fewer employees to do the work and prolly few hours put in over the weekend.

Times are different today than a couple years ago. Hope we don't have to get used to it tho.

It only takes 2.5 days for UPS to deliever the package to me.... but I've been averaging 7-8 days from when I order (ordered before noon each time). They will not fill orders that don't pay the "extra" fees for a few days... regardless of what day I order on. :mur::mur::mur:

What I really don't understand is why the cost to return the exact part with the exact weight to the exact place it came from cost me the lowly consumer with no discounts 8.48 and I was charged 10.45 to get it.

Slurplus center had "affordable" prices... but they get you with shipping AND handling costs.

edit, so I went to UPS and looked up what it cost to ship a 32 pound package from their zip code, for a business that ships and receives packages everyday... shipped to my zip via ground, and it was $10.15 - I was CHARGED $26.75 shipping and $2.00 handling. What a RIP-OFF!!!

and they wanted $65 for 3 day shipping!!!! Which, if they just filled the order when they get it... would have happen

The package was likely delivered to a residential address the first time and to a commercial one the second. There is a residential delivery surcharge across the board, and it typically is around $2.
