After an extended bit of downtime on my 422 I spent last Saturday digging, pushing, and moving all sort of stuff that had been needing to be taken care of during said downtime. Well the beating my back took sent me to the doctor this week for relief from sciatica. Doc says I ain't as young as I once was, no kidding. My question for the group is .... Has anyone successfully installed a suspension seat on a 4xx machine? What tips might you have in doing so?

I recall a suspension seat on a 400 series and I recall someone putting a seat on some sort of hanging thing and maybe some small springs. I think the problems people are having is the suspension bounces your skull into the steel canopy. Maybe there was a low profile suspension seat. You'd have to spend some time with the search engine to find the posts about it.

Ken has the real mans version, I have the poor mans version.

I put in rubber grommets or springs on the screw shafts of the seat between the seat and the plate that holds it. They really help and don't raise as much as Kens setup, but I still drool over kens setup.

Yes he did a nice job.

I guess everyone has their priorities .. If I used mine for mowing grass bouncing around in the seat for hours at time. I know I would have looked into a suspension saddle. For the limited amount of time I've used my PT's I've never found them to be uncomfortable..

I'm sure rubber grommets / springs work great at improving the ride.. But It's never too late to go back and try his setup..

Don't have a PowerTrac, but hated the cheap seat on my tractor, replaced it with a low profile suspension seat, cost about $160. Huge difference, life is better now, no flinching on rough terrain anymore, noticeably less fatigue after a long day. Seat is about 2 inches higher than before, but you get used to that pretty soon.

Any links to that seat? Low profile is what PT owners are looking for as many of us have steel canopies over our heads.... BUMP! OUCH!!!

I just installed a new suspension seat on my eXmark, I have wanted one since I bought it in 2001 and it makes all the difference in the world!
