Swap 2210 engine from YM240 ?

Hi All, I have. 2210d that is in need of an engine rebuild (if possible). I have an engine from a YM240 avaiable to me. It runs great.

Will this swap over? Is it easy? The 240 is not four wheel drive.

There is a thread some pages back of a person not just swapping the engine, he literally just split the 2 tractors in half and swapped the front and rears. Such a simple thing to do. It requires 3-ton floor jacks on concrete to wheel them around. Just keep them all strapped well and plug-n-play.

The real trick to do the front and rear swap is to download BOTH parts manuals for each machine. Then compare the bell housing and other cable connections.

Other than the one thread, this has been hundreds of times by Gray Market importers of the VN used YM machines.

It won't be quite as simple as splitting the two tractors then mating the dis-similar parts, that would give you a 2wd 2210. But we have seen several posts describing a VN reconditioned 2210D with a YM2000/YM240 engine ID tag. So installing that engine, everything should bolt up. Minor stuff like the decompression rod might have to be tinkered with. Check the parts manuals to see if the flywheel and clutch are the same, you might need to swap them.

I think the 2210 engine is just a minor improvement on the 2TR20-A with the same displacement, and a couple more rated HP, at slightly higher rpm.
