Tires swapping AG tires for R-4 tires

I just bought an L3000DT with AG tires and would love to swap them out for more suitable R-4 tires. Could anyone give me some wisdom on what the proper coarse of action is? List on Craig's list? ask a dealer? not sure how to handle this? Kinda new at the tractor thing

Seems checking with a dealer as you likely will have to swap wheels as well as tires.

Sometimes a dealer has a tractor shipped with one set and the customer needs the other, leaving the dealer with extra wheel/tire set. If your lucky, that might be the case.

Otherwise, maybe a swap that the dealer knows about with a customer wanting to switch could happen. Again, if you are lucky.

Thanks Beenthere! While I'm at it... My deal came with Kuhn Power Tiller EL42 which I have no use for but would like 5' bush hog and 5' box blade, Same question, How to address?

I'm looking to do the same thing. All I've done is talked to all the Ag tire dealers and hoped for the best. Not much luck. Price out R-4's and see if you need to change rims also. then list em for sale and see what happens.

List and sell your tiller outright. then buy the other stuff. trying to trade with a dealer, usually you'll take a beating. They will buy it at wholesale. They got to make a living too.

research tires, boxblades, and bush hogs. Keep fishing for deals, you'll stumble across something. Post your questions here. Good bunch of knowledge/opinions here.

I would visit the dealer first for right info,also are you planing to fill the rear tires if so maybe the dealer will give you cost break.

The number one selling tire on compacts are industrial tires, to bad you didn't need to swap the other way!

Your Kuhn tiller is top of the line, but you are asking to just swap and it will take a bit and the suggestion of selling your stuff and then buying what you need is a good one.

Your dealer can certainly get you the tires/wheels through Kubota WholeGoods for likely the best price you will find.

He might take your Ags on trade or consignment. How quickly those lightly use Ags will sell and for what price is anyone's guess. Even if they are on consignment, you'd likely have the option of running a listing on Craigslist while they are there.

My BX came with turfs and I sold those easily on Craigs, as new "take offs" to a landscaper who burns through tires cutting in an urban/suburban area. Then, ordered R4s through WholeGoods. It was painless and virtually cost free. The L products are simply so much more costly. Best regards and wishes.

Do you know what size R4's you will need? I switched the other way and have a set off a Kioti DK35. It might work out.

I guess to each his own but I have used tractors with R-4's and my two with R1's and there is no comparison when plowing, pulling, and pushing snow.

9 times out of 10 you will need new rims also. You are looking at about $1600 or more to do this.

I too much prefer Ag tires (R-1) to the R-4's. Fantastic traction and no pia chains to deal with.

Also, you willwant to check with dealer to make sure your front tires will match up with the rears. Sizing these big tires are very important, particularly if you have 4x4. All 4 tires have to roll together.

Like others have said...you might get lucky.
