We have a major thaw and warmup here in West Michigan after weeks of temps in the 20s or lower. Got up to 63* on Monday. I walked into the barn where I keep my B3030 last night and noticed the tires. You can easily tell the level of the Rimguard now. The fluid stays colder than the air and the moisture condenses on the cold surface. I checked the temp of the tire with an IR temp reader. At the top it was 48*, same as the air temperature in the building. At the bottom it was 44*. All the cast iron parts on the tractor are wet, too.

Tool guy your tractor looks as clean as mine. I dont mind using the tractor i just worked to hard for it to leave it dirty. I never had my rear tires filled. Im thinking about it for beter stability. With the narrow wheel base of the B3030 i dont think it would take much to upset the little tractor. Im just worried about the extra weight on my yard when im performing landscape duty.

Thanks. I try to take care of it. I always blow the dust off when I am done with it. My gas powered leaf blow works good for that. As far as the ballast goes, if you can get along without it I would not put it in. I sometimes think mine is a little to heavy for lawn work when the ground is soft. On the other hand, I like to have the ballast when I use the FEL. I just finished a big job cleaning out my woods. I made some forks for the loader to be able to lift brush and logs. It was too tight where I was working to have any thing on the 3PT for weight. Plus I was using a trailer to haul stuff to the burn pile. A ballast box would have been in the way. With the Rimguard in the tires I had no problems. Only time I would lift a rear tire was if I had all the weight on one corner of the bucket. It will lift up the opposite rear tire occasionally but never both at the same time. I take the loader on and off a lot, too. I like being able to use it without having to add extra weight on the back for safety and traction. Everything is a trade off though but, for me, having the tires loaded is the best situation.

Cool pictures* :)

I don't have filled tires but...
IRC the fluid should cover all of the metal to avoid rust/corrosion.

Good pun.

Rimguard will not corrode the rim, hence the name. It is made of sugarbeet juice. Non-toxic and biodegradable. If calcium chloride is used, tubes should be in the tires to protect the rims, IMHO.

I was concerned also getting the tires loaded. When I bought my tractor the only turfs the dealer had were loaded, I didn't want to wait for new tires so I took them, it was free. They are awesome. My yard is as soggy as they come and I don't have any issues. I need to be careful and I can see a wheel track or two now and again after a heavy rain but they disappear. I would not trade off the stability on slopes and traction they provide.

Nice pics of tractors in work mode...

When I bought my tractor (MF1433v) my dealer said "If you get a FEL you get rear tires filled" unless you specifically request otherwise...All part of ballast thing. Made sense to me..

Having filled tires is still no gaurantee against traction issues but it might keep you from having to use 4wd more often...I prefer to have the weight, Just my thoughts...

I was reluctant to get my tires filled but now c fel and 4n1 bucket very glad I did. Also added 2 100lb wts per tire.

All the cast iron parts on the tractor are wet, too.

The first time I walked into my shop building and saw a big puddle under the tractor sure gave me a start. I thought I had a bad leak somewhere at first until I started checking and found it was just condensation that had dripped off the tractor.
