Hi All,
Spent a good chunk of Easter Sunday cleaning up the parking lot at work with a (?) 55 inch "Sweepster" rear mount rotary broom (?)... aside from a kink in my neck, it did a pretty good job...
Borrowed it from a friend who got a front mount on a little Kubota unit he uses for the jobs he previously used the "Sweepster" for.
He offered to sell it to me for $1000.00--here's the downsides:
the chain needs tensioning/broom sprocket extended... there is a twin groove where the slack (but solid) chain has been wearing (1/16") into the pivot for some time... spent the first 45 min. loosening up the PTO coupler so it would lock into place (he stores everything outside)... everything worked well once it was derusted/greased and I figured out the continuous process of adjusting the lower arms when angling the head... aside from needing chain adjustment, and a variety of dings, dents, & bends, the unit is solid...
Is this too good a deal to pass up? What do they usually go for? How much do you guys with brooms actually use these things--and for anything other than spring cleanup?
Thanks for your time!
